it's the east coast, it's february -- i'm over the harsh cold. i really do love the winter things; fireplaces, scarves, snowmen, holidays... but at this stage in the game: shoveling out the mailbox, chapped cheeks, static clung everything... i'm wearing thin.
how are you faring? the new england states have been getting bombarded with snow - i hope you're all okay and have gotten at least one snow day out of all of this!
on a warmer note, i put together a little round-up of my current favorites --
you guys, i know i came late to the party for skinny jeans-- so, you know - now that they're probably going out of style, they're my favorite! i may never buy another pair of jeans again. that's a lie - i am obsessed with high rise, super flares -- but more on those another time.
do you remember ponds cold cream? i always wondered how a seemingly greasy cream could clean your face-- but do you remember that it was amazing? i do. this is exactly what boscia cleansing oil reminds me of. it is perfect for times like this when the weather is incredibly dreadful on your skin and you need something that's not too harsh.
3. bees wrap!
i brought a ginormous fruit dish to work the other day with a raw honey and lemon simple syrup covered with bee's wrap. the students were more excited about the bees wrap than they were about my beautiful fruit. i don't blame them. this stuff is incredible. sarah kaeck, of vermont, has created an ingenious product that works similarly to plastic wrap, but it's reusable and environmentally friendly! using the warmth of your hands, you mold bee's wrap around your left overs, cheeses, veggies, breads, etc. when you're finished, rinse the wrap with warm water, hang to dry, then roll it up to store - easy-peasy! sarah and her bee's wrap, are amazing. p.s i found out about sarah and her product along with many other creatives through the grommet, which is a place that i adore so much. if you haven't checked it out yet, you must!
i went out on a limb with this scent. it's hard to buy fragrances online, but it had stellar reviews. i'm so happy i did. have any of you smelled dolce gabana's light blue? it's similar, but i think a bit less musky, and just a little more floral. it's definitely a woodsy fragrance - sephora describes it as having notes of lily, edamame, iris root, cedar wood, and ambrette seeds. fancy. ;)
in all honesty, i use this for cooking and for slathering on myself. while i was making granola bars the other night, i purposely grabbed the spoon by the coconut-oiled bottom when i threw it in the sink... it is instant relief for wintery-hands. someone just prep me a vat. CAN WE JUST BE FINISHED WITH WINTER ALREADY - I am literally a frozen raisin. a dried-up-frozen-raisin.
what are some of your favorites right now?
